Racism is an ugly part of our world that has existed since day one.
Racism exists throughout the world, in every country…everywhere.
There is no escaping this horrible malady of our planet. And this evil malady has its roots in ignorance, intolerance, and hatred.
I live in the United States of America, and I am deeply sickened at our disgraceful history of racism. Although I deeply love our country,
I deeply despise racism, both here and abroad.
It was only a few decades ago when segregation laws existed in southern states in the United Statesd. These ignominious segration laws prevented people who happened to have black skin from going to many of the places white people could go to, including schools, hotels, restaurants, theaters…the list is endless.
Blacks were DENIED the basic rights that whites enjoyed.
The segregation laws allowed for LEGAL racism.
And the laws provided an environment of superiority for whites and inferiority for blacks.
What happened to the U.S. Constitution?
And going back a little further in U.S. history, we see one of the ugliest and most horrifying practices of racism ever – slavery.
The legalized kidnapping, forced labor, and torture of people who happened to have black skin – that was slavery.
I am always deeply sickened when I read about or think about that part of our history.
The great suffering by people who happened to have black skin was unbelievable.
Slaves were not treated as people…they were treated as property.
And they were pushed hard, day after day. Many were beaten, whipped, or hung, and others died by suicide.
Many other groups have been mistreated in the United States and around the world.
What happened in the United States is not uncommon.
I love the United States, but I hate racism.
You should hate racism too. It has no place in any society.
